How do we sum up an experience? What can be said? Can manipulated images and curated words properly express the infinite panorama that envelops us when we visit a new space? There are certain qualities that permeate every aspect of Irish culture that could only be described as truly magical (no leprechaun references here!) and hopefully the pictures and captions presented will provide a sufficient context for our experience in Ireland. Of course there is a stunning landscape, but the most beautiful thing about Ireland is the people. The Irish have a wicked sense of humor and some of the kindest hearts you will ever encounter… it is not unusual to see a local on the way to work stop to help a confused tourist looking at a map, give them directions and suggest a pub along the way in case they get thirsty.
^^^We chose a budget airline to take us from Glasgow to Dublin; Ryanair offers the fastest, most frequent, and most affordable flights. Flying is often considerably cheaper than train or bus.
^^^The Thomas House was established in 1710; it is now an alternative punk venue/bar.
^^^Marriage equality is a hot topic in Ireland right now, and soon marriages will be recognized irrespective of the sex of the partners.
^^^Cigarette break! Check out this old guy selling strawberries out of an old pram!
^^^The Guinness Storehouse is an awesome self-guided tour through one of the Guinness factories. It’s like Disneyland for adults! At the end of the tour you meet a 360 degree view of the Dublin skyline along with a pint of delicious beer… but I’m not sure what kind.. its pretty dark… hmm… maybe a Yuengling porter?
^^^The LUAS (Irish for “speed”) is Dublin’s light rail tram system. We took this everywhere and it is fast, cheap, efficient, and super clean.
^^^The Fusiliers’ Arch at the entrance of St. Stephens Green. This is where the LUAS stops in the city center so we saw this beautiful monument to the Royal Dublin Fusiliers almost every day on our way into the city.
^^^How do we sum up an experience? What can be said? Dublin is beautiful and should not be missed!
